Alexandria Tapia

Bringing people together to navigate complex policy challenges has been a consistent thread throughout Alexandria “Alex” Tapia’s career in government affairs, public policy and advocacy.

Tapia currently serves as Director of Government Affairs at yes. every kid., where she leads advocacy efforts across a portfolio of states focused on expanding education opportunities for students and families.

Her career in government affairs and public policy spans more than a decade, with experience at the state, local and federal levels. Before her current role, Tapia served as Senior Director of Government Affairs at AM LLC, overseeing a national strategy connecting public policy and business growth across multiple states. She previously served as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Government Affairs at Aardwolf Laboratories, where she helped lead the launch of a multi-state laboratory network.

Her interest in public policy began in her home state of New Mexico. Early in her career, Tapia worked with the New Mexico Legislative Council Service as well as nonprofits and U.S. Senate and congressional campaigns. Throughout her career, she has focused on coalition building and finding opportunities for collaboration across political and geographic lines.

A 2020 graduate of GSPM’s Political Management program, Tapia also holds bachelor’s degrees in government and history from New Mexico State University.

Her connection to New Mexico extends beyond politics. In 2014, she represented her home state as Miss Rodeo New Mexico, making more than 100 appearances and representing the state at the Miss Rodeo America Pageant.

Today, Tapia continues to draw on her political management experience to build coalitions, navigate complex policy issues and create meaningful change.
