Global Perspective Residency: Brazil, Summer 2023
- August 9: Welcome pre-course meeting.
- August 14 – September 9: asynchronous coursework.
- September 10 – 16: immersion program in Rio de Janeiro and Brasília.

The four-week asynchronous course familiarized students with the largest country in South America and the continent’s powerhouse. Rich in natural resources and an important exporter, Brazil is one of the most influential emerging economies. It is also a country with complicated politics—vacillating between authoritarianism and democracy—and powerful civic movements. While learning about politics, policies, security, and business, students also explored Brazil's extraordinary history and diverse culture as well as its significant role in international affairs—regionally and globally.
An immersion program in Rio de Janeiro and Brasília was developed together with GSPM alumni and included meetings with officials and experts from government, NGOs, business, security and PR firms, and media for an in-depth understanding of today's realities of Brazil and its future prospects.
