Principal, Cornerstone Government Affairs

Max Moll is a Principal at Cornerstone Government Affairs, where he advises clients on public affairs, government relations, strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and reputation management. Drawing on experience across government, education, and the nonprofit sector, he helps organizations navigate complex policy, political, and public-facing challenges while building relationships with key government, business, and community stakeholders.

Prior to joining Cornerstone in 2023, Max served as Chief Engagement Officer for the Houston Independent School District (HISD), the nation’s eighth-largest school district. In that role, he oversaw government relations, communications, family and community engagement, and board relations. He managed the district’s legislative affairs strategy and external lobbying team, served as its lead spokesperson, and represented HISD before elected officials, advocacy organizations, media outlets, and community stakeholders.

Before HISD, Max served as Chief Communications Officer and Deputy Director for the Office of Houston City Controller Chris B. Brown. He led strategic communications initiatives across the City of Houston’s 22 departments, managed investor-facing communications, and helped oversee the city’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investment portfolio, which grew to more than $950 million during his tenure.

Max also served as Chief of Staff to the CEO of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, where he directed public affairs, legislative advocacy, community engagement, and external affairs initiatives. He played a key role in advancing policy and business priorities on behalf of the organization and its members while overseeing media and stakeholder relations.

In addition to his professional responsibilities, Max serves on the Advisory Board for The George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management. In 2026, he was selected as a Houston Business Journal 40 Under 40 honoree.

Max holds an MBA from Boston University, a Master’s in Political Management from The George Washington University, and a B.A. in Mass Communication from Louisiana State University.
