Margaret “Mag” Gottlieb is the Graduate School of Political Management’s Career Services Director. Mag brings a great combination of career and political skills to the school.

Prior to joining GSPM, Mag served as the Managing Director of Foster Partners, a KPMG spin-off retained executive search firm. At Foster Partners, Mag handled business development and conducted executive searches for a wide array of clients in and around Washington, DC. She was the first woman to head a retained executive search firm in Washington, DC.

Earlier in her career, Mag specialized in federal and state legislative and public affairs. She has held positions as Government Affairs Director for the Direct Marketing Association of America, President of the Washington Area State Relations Group, and Chair of the Congressional Relations Committee of Women in Government Relations. Prior to working in the fields of lobbying and executive search, Mag worked on Capitol Hill and in the Ohio House of Representatives.

Mag co-authored An Association Guide to Shaping a State Government Relations Program for the American Society of Association Executives. She had been interviewed and quoted widely in leading print and media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Washington Post. She received her B.A. in History from the University of Cincinnati and her J.D. from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, where she was an editor of the law review.

Mag's responsibilities at The Graduate School of Political Management include advising all students and alumni on career matters, serving as a liaison to the alumni community, and developing the school's professional relations with employers.
