WASHINGTON – George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management (GSPM) and the Government Affairs Industry Network (GAIN) have entered their first year of partnership, providing professional development and educational programming opportunities to government affairs professionals across the nation.
The two partners have expanded the relationship established in 2017, which now includes a series on finding jobs in DC, helping Hill staffers develop professionally, and webinars on the legislative process.
Shannon Patrick, Chair of GAIN, said: “GAIN and GSPM are both focused on helping government affairs professionals develop their careers, so this partnership is a natural fit. Teaming up with GSPM gives our Network access to some of the most experienced government affairs professionals in DC. With GAIN's mission to Inclusively Connect DC, we couldn't ask for a better partner.”
“Working with GAIN has been a great success,” said GSPM Associate Director for Communications John Brandt. “This partnership has given our students, alumni, and prospects access to some of the top minds in advocacy, sparking collaboration and professional growth. It isn’t a coincidence that many GAIN members are graduates of GSPM. Government relations professionals in DC and across the country know that if they want to get in the room where it happens, GSPM is a great place to start or continue their journey.”
Programming for GSPM and GAIN has grown in scope to include other topics beyond traditional government affairs concerns, including ethics, diversity, mentorship, lobbying, appropriations, and applied politics. Both organizations look forward to expanding that portfolio and increasing programing in 2018 and the years beyond.
