WASHINGTON – Service to School (S2S) is thrilled to welcome George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management (GSPM) as the first graduate school affiliated with S2S’s successful VetLink program.
VetLink directly connects veteran applicants with partner schools that align with their academic goals, aspirations, and potential, and was previously only open to those applying to undergraduate programs. By including graduate programs, more schools will have an effective way to identify, evaluate, and accept qualified veterans while veterans benefit from the opportunity that VetLink creates by helping them connect to schools that are great fits for their future.
“We are very proud to be the first graduate school to partner with Service to School,” said GSPM Director Dr. Lara Brown. “Our partnership will offer more veterans a pathway to second service and enhance GSPM’s proud tradition of serving those who served our country.”
Together, Service to School and VetLink partner schools are transforming outcomes for veterans seeking higher education and increasing access to exceptional academic programs with high graduation rates. Each year, Service to School works with hundreds of veteran graduate students through its peer-to-peer mentorship program. By tying these students into the more formal VetLink program, there is a significantly higher likelihood that the veteran will land at the best school possible.
“George Washington University shares Service to School’s mission of expanding educational opportunities for veterans,” said Dr. Andrew Sonn, Director of Military and Veteran Student Services at the George Washington University. “We look forward to working with so many qualified vets and welcoming them to our GW military community.”
GSPM has a long history of providing world class Master’s programs including Legislative Affairs, Strategic Public Relations, and Political Management, as well as a Strategic Governance Master’s program offered entirely in Spanish. Graduates of the program often go on to pursue work in government, politics, public relations, and public affairs and the program is known for its understanding and inclusivity of the military and veterans.
"We are thrilled to have George Washington University join VetLink. They are committed to supporting our nation's veterans and have a passion for helping veterans achieve their educational goals. Together, we will help our veterans transition to the next phase of leadership," said Service to School Co-Founder and Board President, Gus Giacoman.
Service to School and GSPM are both looking forward to the impact this partnership will create for student veterans, as well as continuing to bridge civil-military divide through higher-ed.
