Nien Su

Director, International Corporate Affairs, Walmart Strategic Initiatives Unit

Nien Su serves as Director, International Corporate Affairs, in Walmart’s strategic initiatives unit supporting the company’s long-term development priorities in China.  The world’s largest company by revenue operates more than 430 stores and employs over 100,000 people in China.  Nien is a global government affairs professional with over 15-years of experience operating at the intersection of business and public policy.

Nien was instrumental in developing the Walmart Food Safety Collaboration Center in Beijing, China.  Launched in 2016, the Center is a five-year, $30 million project that seeks to improve the overall food supply chain through innovation, collaboration, and education.  As part of this effort, the Walmart Foundation is funding a $4.5 million project led by the Massachusetts Institutes of Technology to deploy advanced predictive analytics and machine learning to mitigate the risk of food adulteration and fraud in China.

Prior to joining Walmart, Nien served in a number of positions in public service, including with the Foreign Affairs Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives, Department of State, and White House.  Nien earned a BA in international affairs and a MA in legislative affairs from George Washington University.  In 2017, he will graduate from the University of Arkansas’ Walton School of Business with an MBA.
