Ian Koski is the Director of Communications for North America for the ONE Campaign, a global advocacy organization working to end extreme poverty in Africa. He just completed more than four years with U.S. Senator Chris Coons, serving as the office's communications director and the campaign’s senior communications strategist, managing all press operations, digital strategy, messaging, and branding activities for the Delaware Democrat.
Ian was an award-winning digital strategy consultant for six years before moving to the Senate. It was as vice president for new media at Kennedy Communications that he led digital strategy for the Coons campaign for the Senate and Vince Gray’s successful campaign for mayor of Washington, D.C. As a senior strategy client manager at Blue State Digital, he led the agency’s work on a portfolio of clients that included Senator Ted Kennedy, Senator John Kerry, Governor Martin O'Malley, the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Committee, the U.S. Olympic Committee, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, Walmart Watch, and a host of other progressive organizations.
Ian's experience in politics is complemented by seven years as a journalist at newspapers in New York and Pennsylvania, covering politics, education, and sports.
Ian teaches digital strategy an adjunct professor at The George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management. He is a frequent presenter on digital’s role in modern political communications, speaking before a variety of international and domestic audiences, and lecturing regularly at American University and Georgetown University, among others. He holds a bachelor's degree in communication from Villanova University and a master's degree in political management from the George Washington University.
