The Graduate School of Political Management, the Archer Center at the University of Texas, and the Tax Foundation will host Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-Texas) and Ranking Member Richard Neal (D-Mass) for a discussion on the prospects for tax reform.

Reps. Brady and Neal will be joined by former Chairmen Bill Archer (R-Texas) and Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.), who will provide a deep dive on the politics involved in successful reform efforts in the 1980s and 90s. What were the strategies Democrats and Republicans employed to reach consensus on one of the most contentious issues in American politics and can they work in today’s hyper-partisan environment? What role will the White House play in these efforts and how will both sides bridge the divide between the two parties to reform the nation’s tax system.
