Advocacy in the Global Environment

The Advocacy in the Global Environment program trains students to successfully engage political and societal forces around the globe to advance an organization’s purpose whether it’s a multi-national corporation, an international non-profit, or an individual government.

Our students learn how to adapt their messages and techniques in order to advance commerce or causes around the globe and achieve maximum impact. Our program provides a hands-on education, not a theoretical exploration.

Our instructors bring the best practices of the field into the classroom. Learn the art of statecraft directly from business executives, public affairs experts, political leaders, NGO executives, international campaign consultants, media representatives, and leading academics.

Our unique Global Perspective Residencies provides first-hand global experiences. Students choose from a wide range of cities—including Beijing, Brussels, Istanbul, London, São Paulo, and Tokyo—to learn about issues facing companies and organizations. Students network with top political, governmental, media, and business leaders.

Focus Areas

The program is designed to meet specific career goals.  Students can focus on either global advocacy or international public relations. The specific student should work with their program advisor to select courses to meet individual aspirations.

Global Advocacy:  If you want to become an advocate or lobbyist for a multi-national corporation, international business association, non-profit with global interests, regional or specific nation-state government, or a quasi-international organization, the Global Advocacy concentration will teach you the skills needed to succeed in these fields.

International Public Relations: If you are interested in becoming a senior communications professional for a multi-national corporation, international business association, non-profit with global interests, a regional or specific nation-state government, or a quasi-international organization, the International Public Relations concentration will teach you the skills needed to succeed in these fields.

If you have a particular interest in one region or one nation, you can work with your program director to design your elective course to meet your requirements.
